The school interested in accreditation begins by becoming a member of CHI. After satisfactory completion of a self study process, the school board meets with CHI staff to discuss its readiness for the accreditation process.
The following steps summarize the accreditation process:
-
-
The school and CHI agree to the accreditation team and the timing of their visit.
-
Before the visit, the school assembles all documentation that may be required for the team's visit.
-
During the site visit, which lasts at least two days, a team of experts verifies that the required number of standards has been achieved.
-
The Accreditation Council makes a decision after receiving the final report of the Accreditation team and awards the certificate.
-
The school must publish the required documents within four weeks of receiving the certificate.
-
To maintain accreditation, schools must file an annual School Profile with CHI as evidence that quality services are being maintained.
-
Accreditation expires automatically 6 years after the date of the certificate.
